What Replaces Airbnb?

A Glimpse Into the Future of The Travel Industry

I see a lot of people complain about Airbnb on the internet and amongst my friends. Whether it’s the inconsistent host experiences, the non-upfront costs when paying, or having the houses look far different than what was advertised, there is a lot that can be improved. As we well know in startup land, where complaints exist, a white space lies for a startup to compete to fill the gap. There is one company I have been following who I think has a very good chance at not just filling this gap, but has a chance to define a category even bigger than what Airbnb has built. The company I am talking about is Wander.

By owning all their properties, equipping them with quality assets like Eight Sleep beds or Teslas in the driveway, and taking a long term view on company building, I think John Andrew Entwistle and his team at Wander are up to something very special and bold. Something I want to share with you all.

I sat down with John for 20 minutes to talk about Wander, hear where his inspiration for travel comes from, and ask where he see’s Wander in 10 years. I highly suggest watching the interview. You may as well be hearing about the future of travel before 99% of the world. And that knowledge is powerful. Enjoy the interview.
