Building a Better Human Filter

Launching Seedscout 2.0 on Product Hunt

80 years ago, knowledge had a fair amount of friction to access it. It required getting an expensive degree, knowing someone who could teach that skill, or reading a few books from the library and hoping it was enough. Yet in 2022, this problem feels distant.

Because of the internet, knowledge is available at the tip of our fingers. Learning anything is as simple as Googling it, watching a tutorial on YouTube, or buying a course on Udemy. You can quite literally learn anything you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. And as a result, there are more skilled people all over the world than we are used to as a society. Hell, there are more qualified people in this earth than ever before!

Unfortunately, we have failed at building tools to sort though all these qualified people for professional opportunities. We’ve continued to use resume’s, applications, and briefs to mass evaluate human potential, but I believe these tools don’t do our current world justice anymore. I know i’m not alone. These days, most just hire people who went to the same school as them or invest in people who worked at a company they are familiar with. And who can blame them? Sorting through 50,000 resumes for a job sounds miserable, and it’s just easier to hire their buddy from school or use ML to pick the top 50 resumes. It’s easier to invest in someone they already know vs. go through 4,000 cold emails and pick the one winner. Unfortunately, we’re using ancient filters, and they are leaving so much potential on the table.

Today, I am excited to launch Seedscout 2.0. We are aiming to create the new human filter, built for the post internet era. We are starting with the startup industry, but not ending there. We are live on Product Hunt today. Check out our solution to the problem listed above and support us if you feel compelled by commenting, sharing, or upvoting.
